Job Title: Assistant Customer Service Supervisor – Harpenden Library
Starting Salary: £25,583 per annum (opportunity to progress to £28,142) – pro rata for part-time roles| Pay award pending
Hours: 33 hours per week
Location: Harpenden Library (duty shifts may also include St Albans Library), please see the attached timetable.

Supervision:
- Assist the Library Manager in coordinating staff, including timetabling and training.
- Champion staff appraisals and take senior on-duty responsibilities as required.

Service Execution:
- Promote frontline library services aligned with Inspiring Libraries: My Space* goals.
- Foster collaborative community engagement through promotional events and outreach initiatives.

Operations:
- Monitor and ensure accurate data collection for monthly financial and statistical reporting.
- Offer administrative and service support to the Area Management Team as directed.

Contribute to attracting more library visitors by supporting local campaigns.
Essential Requirements
- Exceptional communication and administrative skills
- Customer service zeal and a proven track record of delivering outstanding client care
- Experience in supervising teams, aligning daily activities with team objectives set by managers
- Strong time management and organisation abilities to handle multiple workloads
- Skill and confidence in using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel) for data presentation and team support
Desirable Skills
- Reliability and adaptability to handle diverse, high-energy community events
- Willingness to engage proactively with all staff groups and regular patrons of libraries
