Assistant Deputy Manager

Assistant Deputy Manager

As part of the management team alongside the Home Manager & the Deputy Manager, the Assistant Deputy Manager at Wood Care Group provides essential support for both care delivery and management functions with assigned supernumerary time dedicated to managerial tasks.

This critical role ensures strong leadership and continuity across shifts by being present for day and night shift handovers. The ideal candidate demonstrates a hands-on approach to caring while effectively guiding the team to uphold high standards of service.


Key Responsibilities

  • Care Delivery (Resident-Centred Support):

    • Provide family-like oversight of residents’ physical, psychological, and social well-being.
    • Assist residents with personal care activities including bathing, hygiene, dressing, and meal support while treating them as valued family members.
    • Offer reassurance and companionship to preserve residents’ dignity and independence.
  • Management & Operations Support:

    • Supervisions & Observations: Assist in conducting observations and formal supervisions as required.
    • Rota & Medication Management: Pdplicate responsibilities such as rota planning, medication audits, and ensuring accurate monthly medication checks.
    • Team Development: Maintain a supportive role in coaching and encouraging staff, ensuring standards and training needs are continually met.

  • Safeguarding & Compliance:
    • Uphold safeguarding policies, ensuring adult protection aligns with choice, control, and lawful practices.

    • Ensure whistleblowing policies are respected and evidence of training (including untaken modules) is readily available.

About You

  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate with residents, families, and the management team with warmth and professionalism.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work dynamic shifts, including weekends and potentially bank holidays.
  • Care Experience: Previous care home experience is desirable but not essential; a passion for vulnerable communities is essential.
  • Organisation: Commitment to structured, reliable attendance and active participation in professional/continuing development.
