A leading Principal Contractor is seeking an Assistant Design Manager to join its growing design team. This role is ideal for a qualified Architect currently working in practice who wants to transition into a main contractor environment.

Role overview

Reporting to a Head of Design, you will support the design function across complex Bristol projects, including:

  • Managing design information from RIBA Stage 3 onwards
  • Coordinating architects, structural and MEP consultants
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical submissions
  • Supporting design programmes and consultant deliverables
  • Attending design team and site meetings
  • Assisting with construction-phase design management

Ideal background

  • Qualified Architect (ARB / RIBA or equivalent)
  • Degree-qualified in Architecture
  • Experience within a UK architectural practice
  • RIBA Stage 4-5 Experience (Desired)
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of UK Building Regulations
  • GW2 Experience (Desired)
  • Keen to move into a Principal Contractor environment (Previous contractor experience is not required)
