About the Role

Joining Sainsbury’s as an Assistant Designer within Womenswear is an opportunity to work with a trusted brand that values strong design, quality, and innovation. This position sits within the Womenswear Design team, with essential prior experience in womenswear design.

What You’ll Do

As part of Tu’s Womenswear design team, you’ll:

  • Support the delivery of trend-led, commercially driven designs aligned with the womenswear category vision.
  • Collaborate closely with Designers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to create original, exclusive womenswear products.
  • Play a key role in seasonal and trend-driven design development.
  • Work independently on product briefs and design packs using strong Photoshop & Illustrator skills.
  • Develop innovative, commercially viable designs that cater to diverse womenswear customers.
  • Represent the design team with stakeholders, manage workloads, and meet critical deadlines.
  • Embed sustainability principles into your work while supporting the overall design strategy.

Who You Are

You’re a detail-oriented, creative Assistant Designer with:

  • A genuine passion for womenswear and previous clothing design experience.
  • Collaborative mindset, thriving in environments with Designers, Senior Designers, and suppliers.
  • Strong Adobe Suite proficiency (Photoshop & Illustrator) for product briefs and design creation.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple deadlines.
  • Active involvement in material, swatch library management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Team player energy, adaptable to a fast-paced, flexible environment.

Essential Criteria

  • Previous professional experience in Womenswear design
  • Fashion Design or Textiles degree
  • Strong Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Acute attention to detail and strong organisational abilities
  • Effective time management with consistent deadline performance
  • Collaborative work ethic (e.g., with Design, Buying, Merchandising, Suppliers, and Marketing)

Working Arrangement

  • Hybrid workplace: 2–3 days per week on-site at the Ansty Store Support Centre (Coventry).
  • Flexible based on team collaboration needs.
