The role
Crown Estate Scotland has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Development Manager to join our E&I team on a full-time permanent basis.
This role holder will:
- Support Crown Estate Scotland’s activities in maximising a sustainable and successful business in the marine energy and infrastructure sectors in Scotland.
- Work across Energy & Infrastructure to support/enhance/complement all Development/Asset Management activities.
About the role
The successful candidate for this role within the organisation will be responsible for:
- Completion of new seabed agreements or variations to seabed agreements; more specifically, coordination of the process of negotiation of new agreements and variations, preparation of documentation, preparing documentation for approvals and filing in line with our internal policies.
- Development management activities (which includes day to day monitoring of the obligations in Option Agreements).
- Coordination / project management of enabling projects and reviews of our standard terms.
- Preparing presentations.
- Organising meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
- Team activities including coordination of budgets, forecasts, risks and processes.
- Supporting stakeholder/ tenant relationship engagement and relationship building.
- Supporting E&I procurement activities, particularly with regard to contract management.
Key responsibilities
- Building a detailed understanding of Crown Estate Scotland agreements and activities across all E&I sectors with a view to:
- Stand in for Development/ Asset Managers where required.
- Identify cross-sectoral opportunities for improvement.
- Enhance consistency of approach across sectors. (30%)
- Ensure delivery of CES projects/processes/initiatives:
- Implement appropriate project management approaches (in line with CES policies).
- Ensure robust contract management of external resources/ advisors is implemented.
- Be responsible for specific aspects of leasing activities (as agreed with lead for that activity) – e.g. management of Portal messaging/content. (40%)
- Play active role in E&I engagement activities (internal/external stakeholders, tenants) with particular focus on enabling activities. (30%)

The above list of responsibilities is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake other responsibilities and training as requested by their line manager, appropriate to the grade. Further, the holder of the post will be expected to work flexibly across all the dimensions of the corporate plan.
The contractual working location
The contractual working location of this role is our Edinburgh office. We believe work is something you do, not a place you go to, and we are committed to supporting employees to work flexibly and in a way that suits their role and preferences.
Salary
The salary will be £40,897 with potential for future progression and annual cost of living rises. The maximum salary for this role is currently £47,118. The role also benefits from 25 days’ annual leave, plus 11.5 of public/ privilege days. Crown Estate Scotland encourage flexible working and operate a discretionary flexi-time scheme. This role offers participation in the Civil Service pension scheme.
About You
You should:
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent in a subject relevant to offshore energy or infrastructure.
- Have a working knowledge and experience of marine energy or infrastructure sectors, ideally including commercial or regulatory aspects.
- Be able to understand and manage contracts.
- Have working knowledge of project management principles and experience of managing simple projects.
- Have good problem-solving and analytical skills.
You will have the following qualities, which are key to success in this role:
- Be confident and enthusiastic with communication skills to match.
- Be comfortable working within collaborative, ‘virtual’ teams.
- Be able to work in a structured and organised manner.
- Have good attention to detail and a delivery focus.
