Are you ready to build the future digitally?

At Laing O'Rourke, we're more than a construction business – we're an Engineering Enterprise, committed to delivering projects with greater certainty through engineering excellence, innovation and digital delivery.

We are looking for an Assistant Digital Build Engineer to join our Digital Build team and support the development of coordinated construction models that enable safe, efficient and predictable project delivery.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer with a passion for BIM, digital construction and modern methods of delivery to develop their career on some of the UK's most complex and rewarding projects.

The Opportunity

As an Assistant Digital Build Engineer, you'll work closely with project delivery, engineering and design teams to create and coordinate construction-level digital models (UK BIM Level 5).

You'll help identify coordination, sequencing and buildability challenges before construction begins, improving certainty, reducing risk and supporting efficient delivery on site.

Working as part of the wider Technical Function, you'll contribute to Digital Build reviews, model coordination and digital construction workflows across a range of major projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of project Digital Build scopes.
  • Produce and coordinate 3D models for permanent and temporary works elements.
  • Review design information and identify clashes, coordination issues and buildability risks.
  • Support Digital Review workshops and multidisciplinary model review meetings.
  • Manage BIM issues and technical queries using platforms such as BIMCollab.
  • Issue coordinated model content for site setting out, quantification and construction activities.
  • Support the management of federated Digital Build models and ensure information is kept up to date.
  • Input and manage model metadata requirements.
  • Produce clash detection reports and model review outputs.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Engineers, Technical Leads, DfMA Engineers and Design Teams.
  • Support digital workflows using Trimble Connect, Autodesk Construction Cloud and related platforms.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
