Assistant Director of Asset Strategy – A Place to Drive Change

Location & Remuneration

  • Hybrid role with a national remit and travel across Accent offices (Bradford/Burnley/Camberley/Peterborough/Stockton)
  • Preferable contracting office: Nearest Accent location
  • Salary: Circa £90k per annum
  • Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week

We are looking for a strategic, forward-thinking leader to step into our Assistant Director of Asset Strategy role, ensuring our housing portfolio remains safe, compliant, sustainable, and optimised for the future.


About the Role

As Assistant Director of Asset Strategy, you’ll lead the development and delivery of asset management and sustainability strategies, including:

  • Decarbonisation and net-zero targets
  • Energy efficiency programmes
  • Compliance with regulatory standards

A pivotal role in optimising asset performance, enhancing data integrity, and informing investment decisions—all aligned with customer needs and long-term ambitions.


What You’ll Be Doing

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and refine asset management and sustainability strategies, including decarbonisation and energy efficiency initiatives
  • Drive delivery of our zero-carbon agenda, reducing fuel poverty and improving EPC performance
  • Oversee asset data integrity, ensuring accurate stock condition surveys, Decent Homes compliance, HHSRS (Housing Health & Safety Rating System), and damp & mould mitigation
  • Lead asset option appraisals for homes while managing acquisitions and disposals
  • Develop a 30-year investment plan to guide financial planning and long-term asset optimisation

Regulatory Compliance & Performance

  • Ensure adherence to all legal and statutory standards, including building regulations, health & safety, and housing quality frameworks
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, performance frameworks, and early warning indicators

Financial & Operational Leadership

  • Manage procurement and contract management, ensuring quality and value-for-money
  • Oversee budgets, financial control, and forecasting
  • Build and cultivate stakeholder relationships to maximise funding opportunities

About You

Essential qualifications/experience: ✔ CIH Level 5 (or equivalent with CIH upskilled), or commitment to achieve ✔ Extensive experience in strategic asset management (housing or related sector) ✔ Strong leadership track record, including team management and asset investment strategy execution ✔ Deep knowledge of asset performance, optimisation, and property condition frameworks ✔ Budget management experience, with a focus on procurement and financial efficiency ✔ Passionate about sustainability, with a track record in decarbonisation and net-zero delivery ✔ Excellent communications, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills ✔ Proficient in MS Office and asset management systems ✔ Full UK driving licence and ability to use a company vehicle on business travel

Desirable: ✔ Experience in public or large-scale housing portfolios ✔ Knowledge of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting frameworks

Pre-employment checks will include DBS clearance and social media screening.
