About the location:
Set in the heart of the City, overlooking Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, Tower Bridge is the starting point for discovering London’s historic past, alongside its exhilarating present. As impressive inside as out, this famous five-star hotel remains the centre of attention, as a new chapter begins in its history. This beautiful grade II listed building and former HQ of the Port of London Authority has 100 rooms, 41 residential apartments of which 31 units are in a FS run transient rental program, a stunning ballroom which has hosted the inaugural Reception of the United Nations, 5 meeting rooms, a stunning destination spa with 8 treatment rooms, hammam, steam, sauna and swimming and vitality pool, and a fantastic Food and Beverage offering including Cooper's Cut (Modern Steakhouse), Mei Ume (Chinese/ Japanese cuisine) and Rotunda (all day dining, afternoon tea & bar)

Four Seasons Hotel London at Tower Bridge is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Engineering to join our leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded engineering leader who enjoys developing people, driving projects, and maintaining world class standards within a complex luxury hospitality environment.

The role
As Assistant Director of Engineering, you will work closely with the Director of Engineering to lead the hotel's Engineering operation, overseeing a diverse team responsible for maintaining all guest, colleague, and back of house facilities.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands on operational oversight. You will be instrumental in ensuring our building infrastructure, plant, systems, and maintenance programmes operate at the highest level while supporting capital projects, sustainability initiatives, and long term asset preservation.
You will be a visible leader within the hotel, building strong relationships across departments and creating a culture focused on accountability, safety, development, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Support the Director of Engineering in leading the overall Engineering operation and deputise in their absence
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Engineering and Maintenance professionals, driving engagement and performance
- Ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of all building systems, plant, equipment, and facilities
- Oversee preventative maintenance programmes, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement
- Manage engineering projects, refurbishments, and capital expenditure initiatives from planning through to completion
- Support budget management, forecasting, and financial control within the department
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements
- Work closely with operational leaders to support guest satisfaction and minimise disruption to hotel operations
- Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives across the property
- Maintain accurate engineering records, compliance documentation, and maintenance reporting
- Support emergency response procedures and business continuity planning
What We Are Looking For
- Proven leadership experience within hotel engineering, facilities management, or a comparable luxury environment
- Previous experience at Engineering Manager, Assistant Director, or senior leadership level
- Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building management systems
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering projects, contractors, and capital works programmes
- Excellent people leadership skills with a passion for coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and operational costs
- Ability to balance strategic priorities with day to day operational demands
- Exceptional organisational and problem solving skills
- Professional communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

Desirable Qualifications
- Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent technical qualification in Engineering or Building Services
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification
- Membership of a recognised professional engineering body
- Right to Work in the UK
