Job Summary
The Director of Universal Creative Construction & Facility Development oversees the end-to-end management of all major construction, renovation, and facility builds for attractions, resorts, walkways, waterways, back-of-house support buildings, parking structures, and new facilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, budgeting, scheduling, estimating, design, construction, fabrication, logistics, and commissioning
- Ensuring projects open on time, within budget, and to highest design, quality, and creative/guest experience standards
- Collaborating across Universal Creative, Design, Construction, and Procurement teams for seamless project delivery

Responsibilities
1. Construction, Fabrication, and Implementation
- Lead design decisions and document production, while avoiding contract disputes and change orders
- Adhere to creative vision and project intent without compromising budget or schedule
- Manage field operations hands-on, overseeing quality control and schedule/budget adherence
- Establish and retain a high-caliber project team, including contractors, architects, engineers, and technical consultants
- Implement efficient document control for design and construction
2. Facility & Attraction Reliability & Safety
- Review entire scope of work (attractions, themed environments, resorts) for operational reliability and safety
3. Budget & Schedule Management
- Monitor daily project budget alignment against job scope objective
- Ensure timely project delivery in adherence to approved schedules and objectives
- Assess development criteria to guarantee projects are complete and accurate
4. Creative, Design & Architecture Oversight
- Qualify, procure, contract, and manage architectural/engineering/technical teams during design phase
- Direct project delivery while preserving architectural intent, budget, and schedule
- Support the overall vision set during concept development
5. Personnel Management
- Hire, develop, and supervise a project team (team sizes vary from 3–15+ co-workers, potentially including contractors)
- Team composition: architects, engineers, project managers, schedulers, estimators, technical specialists
- Drive team performance, foster growth, and ensure alignment with project goals

6. Project Reporting & Compliance
- Provide regualt updates to upper management on budget, schedule, and progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for successful project closure
- Comply with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, mandated training, and venue regulations
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred)
- Licensed Architect or Engineer (preferred)
Experience
- Proven expertise in facility maintenance, construction, and thematic environments
- Direct experience in project leadership roles (budgeting, scheduling, procurement)
- Supervisory experience in high-visibility construction or facility development teams
- Experience cross-functional collaboration (creative, design, construction, and operations teams)
