At Arriva, we know great service starts with great people. We are looking for a passionate and people-focused Assistant Driver Manager to lead, support, and develop our team of professional bus drivers while delivering safe, reliable, and exceptional customer service to the communities we serve.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced transport leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment and enjoys building high-performing teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Assistant Driver Manager, you will take ownership of driver engagement, operational performance, and service delivery across the depot. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a team of bus drivers to achieve high standards of safety, reliability, and customer service.
  • Creating a positive and supportive working environment where drivers feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
  • Conducting regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, coaching sessions, and return-to-work interviews.
  • Supporting driver development through training, mentoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Managing driver attendance, performance, conduct, and wellbeing in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant transport legislation, including tachograph regulations, driver hours, and working time directives.
  • Overseeing driver rotas, shift allocation, and holiday planning to maintain operational efficiency and service reliability.
  • Investigating incidents, customer complaints, and operational issues while implementing effective resolutions and corrective actions.
  • Monitoring KPIs including punctuality, safety performance, fuel efficiency, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Working closely with engineering, operations, and customer service teams to ensure seamless day-to-day depot performance.
  • Championing a strong health and safety culture across all areas of the operation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
