Position: Associate Reviews Editor
Location: Remote
Type: Voluntary, approximately 3 hours per week
About the Role
Zimmer Magazine is looking for an organised, book-loving and detail-oriented Associate Reviews Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you will be the engine room of our reviews section, working hand in hand with our Reviews Editor to keep our coverage of fiction and non-fiction sharp and seamless.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as a point of contact for publishing houses, requesting and organising physical and digital ARCs (Advance Review Copies).
- Assisting in scouting and choosing upcoming books for our writers to reviews, ensuring our coverage is diverse, across different time eras and genres, and exciting.
- Assigning review tasks to our roster of writers, checking in on their progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
- Publishing our reviews on our website.
- Attending meetings with the Reviews Editor and rest of the editorial team.
- Performing initial copy editing on upcoming reviews to ensure they meet our style guidelines and are ready for publication.

The Right Person:
- Will have exceptional project management skills; someone who thrives on spreadsheets and tracking deadlines.
- Should have a strong passion for the publishing industry and an awareness of upcoming book releases.
- Is perhaps someone who would love to branch into journalism or publishing and does not know where to start.
- Is excellent with interpersonal skills for collaborating with publicists, writers, and internal team members.
- Has solid copy-editing skills and an eye for grammar, tone, clarity and sharpness.
