About Us
The Vale of Glamorgan Educational Psychology Service has an exciting opportunity for aspiring Educational Psychologists to join our friendly and evolving service. As an AEP you will be supporting the service in applying psychology to improve outcomes for children and young people through our model of service delivery in a patch of schools in the LA.
We are a creative EPS that has a vision to provide activities which support schools to develop their inclusive practice and provision to meet a wide range of additional learning needs. We also look to prioritise pupil voice, person centred practice and we place the needs of children and young people at the centre of what we do.
We provide a consultation model of service delivery whilst having the ability to carry out ongoing and in-depth work. We also deliver a range of training opportunities and we support our consortium in delivering ELSA training and ELSA supervision to our schools.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated AEPs who are planning a future career as Educational Psychologists and who want to work creatively in applying psychology to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The EPS will provide a programme of induction activities to ensure you have the skills to carry out the role effectively, as well as providing various opportunities for supervision and continuous professional development activities. Our AEPs are highly valued members of the team and are sought after by our schools.

About The Role
Pay Details / Soulbury Payscale for Assistant Educational Psychologists: Scale 2-5, £37,265 – £41,616
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Main Place of Work: Barry Civic Centre and Schools/Settings in the Vale of Glamorgan
Temporary Reason: One year temporary contract (school funded) – 1st September 2026 to 30th April 2027
Description:
- Support the delivery of educational psychology services to schools, families, young people, the community, and the Local Authority using approaches that are grounded in applied psychological and educational theory and evidence-based practice.
- Help the service to promote organisational change within educational settings in the interests of supporting the learning potential and the emotional well-being of children and young people.
- Implement a range of interventions that are grounded in psychological and educational evidence.
- Contribute positively and in a complementary way to service delivery, working under the supervision of an educational psychologist (EP).
- Develop and deliver services within a group of schools in a local area.

About You
We are looking for AEPs who are highly motivated, passionate, dynamic, and flexible. You will need a good honours degree in psychology along with current knowledge of psychological theory and practice including an up to date understanding of child development and experience of how psychology can be applied within educational or community settings.
In addition, you will need to have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills along with knowledge of the context in which psychological services, schools, and settings work. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated AEPs who are planning a future career as an Educational Psychologist.

- Notice: The role will require the applicant being able to travel independently to fulfil their role.
