Grade: This is a career graded post from level 4 to level 8, this means that the starting salary and progression through the grade is linked to your qualifications and experience. (Subject to Review)

Salary: £25,989 - £36,363 per annum (Subject to Review)

We are expanding our Highways team and recruiting Assistant Engineers to help deliver essential improvements across Stoke-on-Trent’s road network. These are exciting growth roles, offering a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and progress your career within a supportive, forward-thinking service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the design, delivery and supervision of highway schemes
  • Assisting with projects including road safety, maintenance and improvement works
  • Using technical data (including traffic, speed and condition data) to help shape schemes
  • Attending site inspections and supporting contractors on live works
  • Helping deliver projects safely, on time and within budget

About You:

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering (or working towards)
  • Strong interest in highways, infrastructure or construction
  • Good IT and analytical skills (AutoCAD desirable)
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a team
  • A proactive, positive approach and willingness to learn
