Job Title: Engineer/Assistant Engineer (Pavement Engineering)

What You’ll Do
As a member of the Pavement Engineering team, your role will include:
- Assisting in delivering pavement projects across investigation reports, design, and site supervision.
- Conducting road inspections and preparing treatment recommendations.
- Demonstrating technical expertise in pavement design, maintenance, and construction projects.
- Supporting senior engineers in planning, programming, and cost estimation.
- Developing pavement designs and preparing contract documentation in alignment with DMRB and MCHW standards.
- Supporting the development of Graduate Engineers and Apprentices.
- Using AutoCAD and Civil 3D to refine designs.
- Liasing with clients to ensure project delivery on time and within scope.
- Preparing technical reports, drawings, and design calculations.
- Assisting with fee estimates and scope documents.
- Ensuring work adheres to company health and safety, project management, and risk management standards.

We’re seeking an Engineer/Assistant Engineer to join our growing and experienced team handling large-scale pavement projects. The team is expanding due to recent successes, providing opportunities to take on new, exciting challenges.
You’ll be an active part of delivering pavement design and maintenance projects across the UK and overseas, working closely with a tight-knit team led by Discipline Leads. The team is respected in the industry, so we’re looking for candidates with the technical skills to enhance and grow alongside us.

Ideal traits include:
- Knowledge and experience in pavement engineering, ideally with progress toward professional membership (e.g., ICE, CIHT).
- Strong command of UK pavement design methodologies (e.g., MCHW, DMRB).
- Understanding of material behaviour, asset management principles, and pavement maintenance practices.
What You’ll Bring
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrable pavement engineering experience, including design, inspection, and project experience.
- Experience in road, airfield, or pavement maintenance projects.
- Fluency in MCHW/DMRB documentation and contract processes.
- Familiarity with material failure mechanisms.
- Comprehensive knowledge of asset management and road operation/renewal strategies.
- Relevant civil engineering experience (or equivalency).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Progressing toward Incorporated or Chartered status with a relevant institution.
- National Highways Accredited Pavement Engineer (strongly desirable).
- Familiarity with alternative pavement design standards (non-DMRB approaches a plus).
