Assistant Estimator

Build Your Career on Some of the UK's Largest Infrastructure Projects

Our client is an established and growing consultancy delivering expert cost engineering and estimating services across major highways, bridges, infrastructure, drainage, and water projects throughout the UK. Due to continued growth and expansion of their Glasgow office, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Assistant Estimator who is eager to develop their technical and commercial expertise while working on nationally significant infrastructure schemes.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that genuinely invests in its people, offering structured development, mentoring, and a clear pathway into Cost Engineering.

The Opportunity

You'll gain exposure to every stage of the estimating process while developing a strong understanding of civil engineering construction, project costing, and commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for highways, bridges, civil engineering, drainage, water, and infrastructure projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Produce quantity take-offs and support the preparation of Bills of Quantities.
  • Maintain estimating databases and project cost information.
  • Support senior Cost Engineers throughout the estimating process.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams to deliver accurate cost information.
  • Develop your understanding of infrastructure estimating, risk analysis, and cost planning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
