Assistant Estimator

Location: Glasgow

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Job Type: Full Time | Permanent

Are you an Assistant Estimator with 1-3 years' experience looking to develop your career within a specialist civil engineering consultancy?

Our client is an established and growing consultancy delivering expert cost engineering and estimating services across major highways, bridges, infrastructure, drainage and water projects throughout the UK.

Due to continued growth and expansion of their Glasgow office, they are looking to recruit an ambitious Assistant Estimator who is eager to develop their technical and commercial expertise while working on nationally significant infrastructure schemes.

The Opportunity

Working alongside experienced Cost Engineers, you'll support the delivery of cost estimates and commercial analysis across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for highways, bridges, civil engineering, drainage, water, and infrastructure projects.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Produce quantity take-offs and support the preparation of Bills of Quantities.
  • Maintain estimating databases and project cost information.
  • Support senior Cost Engineers throughout the estimating process.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and project teams to deliver accurate cost information.
  • Develop your understanding of infrastructure estimating, risk analysis, and cost planning.

About You

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • 1-3 years' experience within estimating or a similar construction or engineering role.
  • A background in civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to learn.

Experience within any of the following would be advantageous:

  • Civil Engineering
  • Infrastructure

  • Structures
  • Temporary Works

Experience using estimating software would be beneficial but is not essential.
