Assistant Fabric Technologist – Next Children’s Wear
Working Pattern
Typically 5 days in the office, with core hours (8am–6pm) flexible.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Fabric Technologist to join the Next Children’swear team.

What You’ll Take On
Supporting the fabric technology process from design to delivery, your role will focus on developing and elevating fabric quality, a cornerstone of Next’s innovation-driven ethos.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working alongside the Fabric Technologist, product teams, and suppliers
- Reviewing fabric developments and setting/reviewing technical standards
- Guiding buying and design teams in decisions aligned with:
- Next’s quality expectations
- Sustainability initiatives
- Legal compliance
- Driving innovation in fabric technology for woven and jersey children’swear
What You’ll Bring
Essential
✔ Exceptional technical expertise in fabric technology, with a keen eye for detail ✔ Strong understanding of:
- Fabric sourcing
- Manufacturing processes
- Performance evaluation
- Legal and ethical standards
✔ Driven and proactive—able to generate and implement new ideas that enhance the team ✔ Ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment
Nice-To-Have (if applicable)
📌 Direct experience in children’swear or sustainable fabric innovations 📌 Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., REACH, GOTS, Oeko-Tex)
