We're looking for an experienced and ambitious Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified finance professional who enjoys combining technical excellence with practical problem-solving. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the Group's financial reporting, while supporting the wider Finance function and helping drive continuous improvement.

You'll act as a trusted deputy to the Financial Controller, getting involved in everything from statutory reporting and audit management to financial controls, payroll oversight, and regulatory compliance.

The role

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the delivery of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances or discrepancies.
  • Assist with statutory accounts preparation and manage relationships with external auditors.
  • Support tax and regulatory reporting, including VAT and other statutory submissions.
  • Help maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Oversee key financial accounting activities including journals, accruals, and month-end reporting.
  • Partner with People & Culture and our payroll provider to ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and appropriately controlled.
  • Support treasury activities, cash management, and banking processes.
  • Assist with FCA compliance, risk management, and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to Board and Audit & Risk Committee reporting.
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller when required and provide guidance to colleagues across the Finance team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
