Are you a detail-focused finance professional who enjoys working close to the operation, not just behind the numbers? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, control and insight directly impact performance? If you’re proactive, analytical and ready to support a complex, high-volume site, this could be the role for you.
Here at GXO Logistics, we’re looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our new retail distribution operation in Northampton. This is a purpose-designed site, servicing over 250+ stores, where speed, accuracy and service are critical—and where finance plays a key role in keeping control, driving insight and supporting the wider business. Working closely with the Finance Manager and operational leadership team, you’ll be responsible for delivering accurate reporting, supporting weekly results and ensuring financial processes are robust, efficient and cost-conscious at all times.
This is a great opportunity to join a new, flagship site at the start of its journey. You’ll be right in the middle of a high-volume, fast-moving operation where finance is hands-on, visible and essential to performance. You’ll gain exposure across all areas of site finance - from procurement through to reporting - and have the chance to develop your skills in a complex, commercial environment.
This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, either 08:00 – 16:00 or 09:00 - 17:00. Flexibility will be required to support a 24/7 operation when needed, this is logistics after all!
Pay, benefits and more:
- You’ll be paid a salary of up to £40,000 per annum, you’ll also receive 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), as well as the option to buy additional days so you can enjoy a positive work-life balance.
- Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical and dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme.
- You’ll have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more.
- You’ll also have access to our GXO University which provides you with the opportunity to learn new skills and gain qualifications at a pace that you’re comfortable with.
- There’s also our continued focus on internal promotions, over 55% last year!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
