About the role:

The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in the effective operation of the Finance Department, ensuring the integrity of financial records, regulatory compliance, and the timely preparation of management and statutory reports.

The role serves as the first point of contact for internal accounting queries, oversees the investigation and resolution of accounting discrepancies, prepares regulatory and tax submissions, and provides financial systems support to the business.

Job purpose:

  • First line of contact for all internal accounting queries
  • Responsible for investigation and resolution of all discrepancies and problems arising from production of reports and daily maintenance of accounting records
  • Preparation of the Quarterly Bank of England return; VAT, PRA semi-annual submission on the firm’s liquidity and other statutory returns in an accurate and timely manner within pre-determined deadlines
  • Provide end user support to the Branch’s business and office applications

Areas of responsibility:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounting Information: First line of contact for all internal accounting queries.
  • Management Account: On a daily/monthly basis provide management accounts and financial information to senior management and assist professional advisors in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Accounting Records: Responsible for investigation and resolution of all discrepancies and problems arising from production of reports and daily maintenance of accounting records.
  • Regulatory Returns: Preparation of Branch UK regulatory returns and semi-annual submission of whole-firm liquidity data to the PRA in an accurate and timely manner within regulatory deadlines.
  • Accounting System: Help set up and keep under review computerized systems and procedures to record the business assets and liabilities of the branch.
  • SAMA Returns: Prepare monthly Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) returns for Head Office from base accounting data within the pre-determined deadlines.
  • Budget: Preparation of the Branch’s budget.
  • Taxation: Prepare and collate HMRC returns including corporation tax, VAT and BBSI. Provision of data relating to group OECD/BEPS reporting.
  • HO Reporting: Manage the interaction between Branch and Head Office for consolidated reporting of Branch data.
  • Finance Department: Provide cover for the Finance Manager, as required.
  • Finance Information: Provide end user support for the Branch’s business and office applications: Midas, SAGE, Oracle, MS Office and Business Objects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Qualifications: Qualified Accountant.
  • Minimum Experience: Proven experience within the Finance Department of an international bank.
  • Good general banking experience.

Technical Knowledge Areas:

  • Knowledge of finance and accountancy within an international banking environment.
  • Knowledge of the necessary returns required by the various regulators.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Business Objects, Oracle, Midas and SAGE.
