The Role: Financial Accountant (EMEA Focus)
You’ll drive financial accountability in a fast-moving, growth-stage health business. As the owner of core general ledger (GL) activities, you’ll also contribute to management reporting, budgeting, and financial business partnering for EMEA entities.
Reporting to: Senior Manager, Financial Control

Responsibilities
Ownership of the General Ledger
- Core Posting Responsibilities:
- Prepare, record, and audit-trail journals (accruals, prepayments, intercompany entries, inventory adjustments, reclassifications).
- Ensure transparency and accuracy in all transactions.
- Month-End Close:
- Own and deliver the month-end close for designated EMEA entities—hit deadlines while maintaining strict accuracy.
- Reconciliations & Variance Resolution:
- Collate and reconcile balance sheet accounts with urgency.
- Resolve discrepancies between NetSuite, internal tools, and group reporting.
- Compliance & Reporting Alignment:
- Maintain crossover reconciliations (intercompany, currency, fixed assets).
- Align financial statements with UK GAAP/IFRS and internal control obligations.

Driving Management Reporting
- Variance & Performance Storytelling:
- Produce monthly management accounts (P&L by department) with clear commentary for senior leadership.
- Not just numbers—analyse trends and provide actionable narratives.
- Budget & Forecast Support:
- Contribute to UK budgets, forecasts, and rolling cash-flow analyses.
- Transform financial data into transparent, user-friendly insights for operational and commercial leaders.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration:
- Work as a trusted financial partner with clinical, commercial, and operational teams to connect data to patient outcomes.
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Regulatory & Operational Compliance:
- Ensure alignment with GAAP/IFRS and internal controls.
- Assist with VAT returns (onsite/offsite) and deadlines.
- Audit Support:
- Manage auditor queries, working papers, and schedules to avoid last-minute surprises.
- Maintain gold-standard audit-ready records.
Process Improvement & Growth
- Automation & Efficiency:
- Constantly ask: "Why are we still doing it this way?" Aim to simplify or automate repetitive tasks.
- Adapting to Scaling:
- Provide analysis for new products, markets, and care programmes.
- Liaise across functions to gather data and derive operational advantages.
About You
Essential Portfolio
The role is ideal for aspiring chartered accountants or those registered for ACCA, CIMA, or ACA with practical exposure:
- 2–4 years in finance/accounting (a blend of financial and management accounting).
- Hands-on month-end close experience in a commercial/professional setting.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills—mastery of pivot tables, lookups, basic modelling.
- Works well in teams and can freeze-pan process flows for junior colleagues.
