Assistant Financial Accountant
Assistant Financial Accountant – Permanent, Full Time
Location: Brighton (Head Office, East Sussex) – Remote options available
The Role
The Assistant Financial Accountant ensures the upkeep of the Fixed Asset Module and IFRS16 Lease Software, maintains the integrity of the General Ledger in these areas, and supports the Senior Financial Accountant in closing the month end and ad hoc duties.
About the Role
Financial Reporting
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Module and Leases Software for the group
- Post month-end journals, including depreciation, amortisation, and leases journals
- Account for IFRS16 and IAS17 globally, ensuring reconciliations back to IAS17
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of coding for invoices, expenses, and other financial items
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Compile schedules for year-end and interim audits relating to assets and leases
- Complete ONS surveys where appropriate
Systems & Process Integrity
- Maintain, control, and ensure accuracy of systems and mandates
- Manage IFRS16 lease system reconciliation between General Ledger (GL) and Lease System
- Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Module
- Prepare Fixed Asset capitalisations in the Agresso Fixed Asset Module, reconcile to General Ledger, and manage Fixed Asset Work In Progress accounts
- Approve payments within the HSBC banking system

Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with FP&A, Estate Team, and IT Team
- Liaise with auditors during interim and year-end audit processes
- Assist Senior Financial Accountant or FP&A with ad hoc project work
About You
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Studying for ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification
- Experience with General Ledger journals
- Ability to complete complex & high-volume balance sheet reconciliations; resolution of reconciling items
- Strong communication skills able to explain technical financial information to non-finance teams
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Relationship management and customer service orientation
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Intermediate-level Excel proficiency, knowledge of Agresso and Study Global Systems a major advantage
