Assistant Financial Controller
City of London | Hybrid Working | Up to £80,000 + Benefits | Permanent | Full-Time
Robert Half is delighted to be partnering with a leading global fintech organisation to recruit an Assistant Financial Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong qualified accountant to join a growing finance function within a highly regulated business, offering broad exposure across financial control, statutory reporting and business partnering in an international environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining a robust financial control environment across the UK business. You'll be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting while supporting regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement across finance processes.
Key responsibilities include
- Supporting the delivery of accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Reviewing financial records, reconciliations and balance sheet controls to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting the external audit process
- Supporting regulatory and tax reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant financial regulations
- Monitoring and enhancing financial controls, identifying control weaknesses and implementing process improvements
- Working closely with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting processes
- Supporting technical accounting matters and contributing to finance projects, including systems enhancements and process automation initiatives
- Assisting with the preparation of management information and providing insight to support decision making
- Ad hoc projects including automatations, system implementations, and further opportunities for process improvement

We're looking for a qualified accountant who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to operate in a commercial, fast-moving business.
You will have
- ACA or ACCA qualification
- Practice-trained background, ideally from Top 10
- A minimum of 2–3 years' post-qualified industry experience
- Experience working within a regulated environment, ideally financial services, fintech or another FCA-regulated business
- Strong financial reporting and financial control experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
