Food & Beverage Assistant Manager

About the Role

Are you looking to develop your career in Food & Beverage? The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, and we'd love for you to join our team.

This role is based in a rural area, so please consider how you would commute before applying.

  • Hours: 1,950 per annum
  • Salary: £33,000 per annum
  • Duration: Permanent

Responsibilities

As the Food & Beverage Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to:

  • Oversee the entire café operation, ensuring consistently high standards in staff performance, service quality, and food/drink preparation.
  • Continuously identify ways to improve visitor experience and service standards.
  • Support team development, including recruiting, training, and feedback sessions.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, food safety regulations, and National Trust policies.
  • Work towards financial targets by driving sales, controlling resources, and optimising customer service.
  • Take part in an induction and mandatory training (e.g., allergens, food safety), with opportunities for further professional development.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience providing outstanding customer service in a food or hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including setting individual objectives and coaching teams.
  • Budgeting and financial control experience, including managing stock, waste, and costs to boost income.
  • A friendly, communicative approach with excellent people skills.
  • Awareness of health and safety compliance and relevant regulations.
