Assistant Gardeners Assistant Gardeners Needed – York (Fixed-Term Contract)
About the Role
Our local authority client is seeking Assistant Gardeners to join their team, based in York. This is a full-time temporary role starting immediately (Monday–Friday, 37 hours per week, with a Friday lunchtime finish) and will run until mid-September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out gardening and horticultural maintenance across multiple residential sites in York.
- Perform tasks including:
- Cutting, pruning, mowing
- Litter picking, sweeping & weeding
- Cleaning public spaces (e.g., emptying bins)
- Must work outdoors in all weathers under varied conditions.

Requirements
- A current full UK driving licence (essential for commenced roles).
- Experience in horticulture, gardening, or manual labouring (a strong advantage).
- Physical fitness and ability to work independently.
- Must be UK workforce-eligible and able to provide:
- Two references, including one most recent ( employer name, company address, contact details).
- Full work history for application documentation.

Compensation
- £13.86 per hour (full wage paid).
- Provided with work vehicle, equipment, and PPE.
