Assistant Garment Technologist

Motel Rocks Group Ltd

Location: London, UK Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Welcome to Motel

Our story began during a road trip in the 1990s, where our founders, Will and Andy, travelled across America collecting vintage items while living out of motels. They started purchasing vintage clothing in the USA and selling it wholesale, which eventually led to the creation of stores. From there, they began designing reworked vintage pieces, and thus, Motel was born.

Over 30 years and a team of 200+ people later, every piece of clothing we make is created with the same spirit of fun, freedom and adventure as the road trip that first defined the brand. We’re still ambitious and independent, but now we’re a global team - we work from an operational base in Worcester, a design studio in London and a creative studio in Bali.

The Role

As the Assistant Garment Technologist, you’ll support the delivery of a consistent, high-quality product across all Motel categories.

You’ll play a critical role in supporting the technical development process and transforming creative designs into commercially viable products. You’ll work across multiple areas, supporting the delivery of high-quality, well-fitting products that meet Motel brand standards, customer expectations and critical path deadlines.

This role offers the opportunity to build strong technical foundations while gaining exposure to the full product lifecycle in a fast-paced, design led environment.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • You’ll support the technical and design teams to ensure product fit, quality, and aesthetic standards are delivered consistently
  • Support product and design teams to ensure Motel aesthetic is achieved across all products
  • With guidance from the Senior Garment Tech, support fit consistency across each collection, ensuring garments meet brand quality standards
  • Develop Product Development Packs ensuring accuracy of information to improve ‘right first time’ sampling
  • Work closely with yarn suppliers and factories to ensure adherence to required specification and quality standards

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
