Position Overview
Neuberger Berman is seeking a junior qualified lawyer to assist the EMEA legal team in providing general corporate and investment management support on legal matters with a particular focus on ESG rules and regulations for Neuberger Berman, EMEA.
As a global business, the role will involve liaising with Legal and Compliance colleagues in the United States, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan as and when required.
The legal function sits within the Legal and Compliance team, assisting the business and other support and control units on all legal and compliance related matters.
In addition to the focus on ESG matters, the role will have interaction with the EMEA Client Coverage teams to help implement distribution strategies and the establishment of commercial relationships with intermediaries; sales staff, portfolio managers and client service teams on new client and day-to-day asset management issues; and compliance, risk, internal audit and finance teams on all operations.

Primary Responsibilities
- Advising the business and coordinating with working groups on the impact and implementation of new laws and regulations in relevant jurisdictions (in particular in relation to ESG);
- Working with the ESG team on updates to internal compliance with ESG legislation;
- Ensuring ESG related rules, disclosures and disclaimers are properly incorporated into legal documentation;
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of legal documentation focusing on, but not limited to, distribution agreements, IMAs, rebate agreements, confidentiality agreements and side-letters;
- Review and drafting of bespoke legal related RFP or marketing questions;
- Liaising with outside counsel as appropriate and necessary to assist with legal agreements.
Key Requirements / Qualifications
- (essential unless otherwise stated) Up to 2 years PQE
- Demonstrable legal experience, gained from in-house and/or private practice;
- Familiarity with ESG related legislation (SFDR, TCFD and all ancillary ESG legislation) and a keen desire to become an “ESG expert” in the legal field;
- Familiarity with fund structures (e.g. UCITS, SICAV, Master-Feeder, US Mutual funds), fund domiciles (Ireland, Lux, Cayman, US) and segregated accounts;
- Familiarity with upcoming legislative changes;
- Adaptable individual with a team-orientated approach to work in a dynamic environment;
- High quality drafting and research skills;
- Exceptional organisational skills.
