About The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior commercial lawyer with the right mix of confidence, vision, experience, skills and drive to help build the business within the exciting and dynamic environment at FTI Consulting.

The EMEA Legal, Risk & Compliance Team enjoys a challenging and varied workload which covers all legal issues arising from the operation of a professional services business. We strive to support the Business strategy by the prompt delivery of pragmatic, adaptable and solutions based legal advice to all levels within the business in EMEA.

The role will cover all legal issues arising in a fast moving, innovative professional services business.

The Europe, Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”) region, consists of 31 offices located in 17 countries - Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

What You'll Do

  • Negotiate, draft and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts, including multi-jurisdictional projects.
  • Advise EMEA senior management, client facing professionals and the Legal, Risk & Compliance team on various aspects of corporate and commercial law.
  • Collaborate with members of the Legal, Risk & Compliance Team to develop a best-in-class team which partners with the business in a timely and effective way to drive profitability, business growth, and success.
  • Work closely with and manage external legal counsel across EMEA who are handling legal matters to ensure overall quality and value of legal services.
  • Maintain and adapt standard templates that comply with company policies and local law.
  • Provide support to the Legal, Risk and Compliance team on any litigation and disputes, in addition to any transactions, including M&A and other business development activities, as needed.
  • Work with the Legal & Compliance Team and the Business to identify, develop and implement forms and processes to improve the efficiency of the handling of internal legal matters.
  • Identify and analyse current and emerging legal and risk issues and effectively communicate the same and mitigation activities to the appropriate levels of the business.
  • Develop expertise in FTI’s practice areas and service offerings and build strong relationships with FTI’s client facing professionals.
  • Be proactive and adept at engaging across functions and supporting other areas where necessary, communicating with and managing relationships at a senior level.
  • Support the Employment legal team on employment law issues and manage employee matters from a legal perspective.
  • Provide support to the Legal, Risk & Compliance Team on maintaining the EMEA corporate entity structure.
  • Work closely with the DPO on Data Protection matters.
  • Support, counsel, guide and train junior lawyers in the team.

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex legal issues in commercial and compliant, but also creative, business-friendly, and cost-effective ways with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Effective communicator who demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills, translating complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for senior stakeholders.
  • Builds strong relationships across functions, actively listens, and tailors messaging to influence decision-making, mitigate risk, and support strategic objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor with at least 8 years PQE, with a combination of experience gained in a reputable private practice firm and an in-house environment.
  • Strong grounding in corporate and commercial law, with demonstrable experience leading on complex commercial contracts and advising on a broad range of matters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the professional services sector and/or a US multinational organisation would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of employment law (including advising on employee-related matters and coordinating with HR or external counsel) would be beneficial.
  • Exposure to litigation matters or dispute management is a plus.
  • Additional European language skills would be an advantage.
