Assistant General Manager, The Running Horses, Mickleham
The Running Horses is looking for a confident, hands-on Assistant General Manager to join our team.
We are a busy village pub with rooms, serving fresh seasonal food, great drinks, and warm hospitality. We are looking for someone who can support the General Manager in running the business day to day, lead the team on shift, and help maintain high standards across service, guest experience, rooms, events, and operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong pub, restaurant, or hotel experience, excellent people skills, and the ability to stay calm and organised during busy services.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the pub
- Lead shifts and ensure smooth service across bar, restaurant, and rooms
- Train, motivate, and support the front-of-house team
- Maintain high standards of guest experience and hospitality
- Help manage bookings, guest feedback, and daily communication
- Support stock control, ordering, cash-ups, and business standards
- Ensure health and safety, licensing, and company procedures are followed
- Step up and take responsibility in the General Manager’s absence

What We’re Looking For
- Previous Assistant Manager, Supervisor, or Duty Manager experience
- Strong bar and restaurant service knowledge
- A warm, confident, and professional approach
- Good organisation and communication skills
- Ability to lead by example and motivate a team
- Experience with rooms or events would be an advantage
- A genuine passion for hospitality
