Job Title: Assistant General Manager

Reports to: General Manager

Direct Reports: Fitness Personnel

Purpose

This position is responsible for oversight and supervision of the fitness facility in Kings Gym while on shift. Individuals holding this position must be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilising effective critical thinking and decision-making skills. This person is responsible for providing a clean, safe and welcoming environment for all members of the Kings Gym community. Lastly, this person is responsible for providing quality customer service by assisting members with their long-term fitness goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Gym Manager in the day-to-day smooth running of Kings Gym fitness facilities
  • Act as Duty Manager for the Gym, in the absence of the Gym Manager
  • Line management of Kings Gym fitness personnel
  • Responsibility for legal compliance including Health and Safety
  • Responsible for targeting improvements in service delivery, KG Audit
  • Record and monitor daily safety checks on all equipment (machine maintenance), report any hazards and ensure works are completed
  • To ensure any potential hazards are reported to the Gym Manager
  • To support with tours of the facilities and the "selling" of memberships
  • Monitor deliveries, goods in and out, Biffa collections
  • Handling customer complaints, resolving member concerns, and managing club email communications
  • Great communication and leadership on our Slack Platforms

Members

  • To deliver a customer service focused culture across the Kings Gym operation
  • To listen to & communicate effectively with all our members
  • To deliver services that are easy to access for all members
  • To be competent and confident in the use of all equipment in the gym
  • To offer and provide advice, motivation and support as required to all users.
  • Carry out gym induction for Members and Guests to ensure safe and effective use of all equipment.
  • Motivate and encourage Members to ensure repeat custom
  • Making sure all members are following the Kings Gym Rules

  • Provide customer service though: interacting with members, assisting with queries, selling merchandise, upgrading memberships, educating participants on how to use equipment, and answering questions.
  • Ensure the fitness area remain clean and organised; organise loose weights, weight plates, and bars on the gym floor and communicate with members to keep the facility tidy. Disinfect and clean equipment and complete simple maintenance checks.
  • Actively supervise the gym floor, completing regular floor checks.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace behind the counter.
  • Act in a professional manner by upholding Kings Gym policy when involved in conflict management with members and staff.
  • Perform opening/closing procedures of the fitness floor and cardio areas
  • Attend mandatory meetings and team training sessions.
  • Actively marketing and promoting current facilities and programs as per your manager’s request
  • Maintain a standard of performance on daily tasks.
  • Communicate clear and concise information as needed to members, emergency medical service personnel and police services where required.
  • Adhere to all Kings Gym guidelines and any reasonable request from your line manager or the senior leadership team.
