Assistant General Manager – Homes for Students (Glasgow)

Join Homes for Students, the UK’s leading independent provider of student accommodation, in an exciting new role as Assistant General Manager at our Scotway House Property in Glasgow.

This position offers a 40-hour per week commitment (working flexible hours between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm on a rota basis) and provides dynamic, rewarding work experience.


About the Role

As the Assistant General Manager, you will be a key player in ensuring exceptional customer service across our sales, maintenance, and housekeeping departments. Expect to work closely with a dedicated team to uphold our company values while driving efficiency across all operations.

This role is particularly pivotal during the September peak season, where you will support the General Manager and wider site team in managing check-ins, check-outs, and room turnarounds. Your strong communication skills will be essential when assisting new students and resolving both customer and operational challenges efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer support across sales, maintenance, and housekeeping
  • Oversee check-in, check-out, and room turnaround processes during peak seasons
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and site team to execute high standards
  • Utilise your excellent communication to resolve operational and customer issues
  • Drive team performance while maintaining a strong culture of accountability and service excellence

Requirements & Person Specification

  • Previous experience in team management within a similar role or industry
  • Strong ability to present and analyse information accurately and effectively
  • Outstanding organisational skills to ensure smooth, efficient operations
  • Ability to work collaboratively, inspire, and motivate team members
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (and other relevant IT tools)
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations (desirable but not essential)
