Assistant General Manager - Haggerston & Tooting, London

Location: London (Haggerston & Tooting locations)
Hours: Full-time, including evenings and weekends as required.
Salary: £34,000 per annum plus bonus.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Assistant General Manager to support the running of our London operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves hospitality, events and leading teams. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining high operational standards and supporting the continued growth of our London sites.

Working closely with the General Manager and wider central team, you will help lead day-to-day operations, develop your team, drive performance and ensure our venues continue to deliver the magic that The Big Bakes is known for.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Support the leadership and day-to-day management of our London teams.
  • Coach, develop and inspire team members to deliver consistently high standards.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and training initiatives.
  • Create a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Support Team Leaders and management teams in their development and progression.
  • Step into the General Manager role when required and confidently lead site operations.

Guest Experience

  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Take ownership of guest feedback and ensure any issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve customer satisfaction and enhance the overall guest journey.
  • Help create memorable experiences that encourage repeat visits and positive feedback.

Operations & Commercial Performance

  • Support the management of stock, ordering and supplier relationships.
  • Ensure food safety, health and safety, and compliance standards are consistently maintained.
  • Support labour planning and operational efficiency across the London sites.
  • Monitor business performance and identify opportunities to improve sales and profitability.
  • Drive bar sales and other revenue opportunities through strong leadership and excellent guest service.
  • Support reporting and help deliver consistency across all areas of the operation.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous management experience within hospitality, events or leisure.
  • A natural leader who enjoys developing people and building strong teams.
  • Strong operational and organisational skills.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how great operations drive business performance.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for creating exceptional guest experiences.
