What This Role Is Here To Do (Role Purpose)

As the Assistant General Manager at Poolhouse, you’re the second-in-command and the driving force behind daily operations, team energy, and guest satisfaction. You’ll lead by example on shift, solve problems as they arise, and bring out the best in your people. This role is ideal for someone who loves variety in their role and sees themself as being influential in a group. They will also love being part of a large and lively team, and is ready to take their leadership skills to the next level.

What Success Looks Like

  • You create a calm, confident presence on the floor and in the kitchen
  • Teams feel supported, energized, and well-led on your shifts
  • Problems are spotted and solved early – with pace and professionalism
  • Guests leave happy and impressed, even on the busiest nights
  • You work hand-in-hand with the GM to drive performance and culture
  • You help build a positive, ambitious team culture that others want to join

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the venue confidently when the GM is off-shift or off-site
  • Lead and support the Front Of House and kitchen teams during service
  • Handle operational challenges smoothly and calmly as they arise
  • Drive standards in cleanliness, safety, and guest experience
  • Manage and motivate large teams to deliver exceptional service
  • Train, coach, and develop junior managers and team members
  • Support rostering, stock control, and opening/closing duties
  • Maintain a visible, supportive presence on the floor
  • Handle guest feedback with confidence and care
  • Champion the Poolhouse culture, values, and brand every day

  • Proven experience in a high-volume hospitality leadership role
