Assistant Group Accountant
Pentagon Talent are currently working with a leading international law firm that is looking to appoint an Assistant Group Accountant to join its Group Finance team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified ACCA accountant who is looking to develop their career within a global organisation, gaining exposure to international financial reporting, management accounts, and financial planning.
Working closely with the Group Finance Manager and finance teams across multiple international offices, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of financial reporting across the business while supporting a variety of group finance initiatives.
The Role
This is a varied position offering excellent exposure across management accounting, financial reporting, and group finance. You'll work with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial information is accurate, compliant, and delivered to a high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Group Finance Manager in working with international finance teams to ensure accounting policies and financial reporting standards are applied consistently across the business.
- Reviewing monthly management account submissions from international offices, ensuring accuracy and following up on any queries.
- Analysing office profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and reconciliation schedules to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Assisting with the review of monthly bank reconciliations across multiple offices.
- Helping maintain consistency within the general ledger to support meaningful group-wide financial reporting.
- Preparing monthly management accounts for a number of international offices, including journal postings and month-end reporting where required.
- Developing a strong understanding of the firm's financial systems to support reporting, analysis, and process improvements.
- Assisting with the annual budgeting process, working alongside international finance teams to review overheads, update budget information, and ensure inter-office recharges are accurately reflected.
- Supporting internal and external audit requirements by providing financial information and assisting with audit queries.
- Contributing to improvements in financial controls, reporting processes, and accounting policies across the finance function.
- Producing ad hoc financial reports, general ledger analysis, and supporting senior finance stakeholders with additional projects as required.

About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you'll ideally have:
- AAT, degree, or equivalent accounting qualifications, alongside part-qualified ACCA status.
- Around two years' experience within finance, ideally gained within legal, professional services, or an audit environment.
- Strong experience working with general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
- Experience with legal practice management systems or similar finance software would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with stakeholders across multiple locations.
- A proactive mindset with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
