Early Years Leader – Cherubs Nurseries
Hours: 30-40 hours per week
Ready to lead with passion, purpose, and heart? We’re looking for a dedicated early years leader to guide our team, support our families, and champion the best start in life for every child.
About Us
Established in 1993, Cherubs Nurseries is a family-run business on a mission to give all children the personalities, skills, and experiences they need to thrive in the world. Central to our approach—inspired by **Montessori, Hygge, Reggio, and Forest School—**is our Community Life programme, which aims to make the communities we serve better places to live, work, and grow up in.
Our efforts include:
- Annual fundraising events
- Community clean-ups
- A robust Sustainability Action Plan
We believe it takes a village to raise a child, and our nurseries should reflect the communities we serve. We champion diversity in early years, aiming to achieve a mixed-gender early years workforce, and support MITEY as part of this initiative.

About Our Nursery: Cherubs Executive House, Bulwell, Nottingham
- A thriving 80-place nursery with excellent transport links
- From September 2026, we’re relocating to a renovated, purpose-built nursery—bringing an exciting new space and enhanced facilities

What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure workplace visibility: Be actively present in rooms while maintaining a high standard of operation across all Nurseries’ guidelines
- Comply with ratio and legal requirements—upon statutory safety and welfare regulations
- Manage office tasks: Meet deadlines, track progress, and fulfill set targets from the management calendar
- Act as a back-up Nursery Manager: Take full ownership in absence, ensuring children have the best possible experience
- Stay current on industry updates: Relay relevant legislation and policy changes to your team
- Audit and refine child profiles in Nursery In A Box: Ensure records are accurate, detailed, and reflective of each child’s development. Provide challenging next steps to support growth
- Aim for outstanding outcomes: Drive excellent internal audits and external evaluations (e.g., Ofsted)
- Adhere to Cherubs Values: Promote our vision, brand, and pledges in daily work
- Engage in transparent reporting: Maintain open dialogue with the Senior Management Team with honest insight into nursery operations
- Lead by inspiration: Mentor your team, demonstrating best practices so others can learn and develop
