We are seeking an Assistant Head of Year (Pastoral Support) to join The Arnewood School, part of Bourne Education Trust.

Position: Assistant Head of Year (Pastoral Support)
Contract: Permanent, term-time only
Start Date: 1 September 2026
Salary: £22,543 to £24,803 (actual) £27,779 to £30,564 (full-time equivalent, FTE)

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and accurately record daily attendance for students in the year group (including meetings with parents and external agencies).
- Maintain up-to-date records of behavioural incidents and attendance.
- Collaborate with Heads of Year to develop and implement personalised behaviour and pastoral care plans.
- Work with students exhibiting challenging behaviour, providing de-escalation techniques and structured support.

Essential Requirements
- A deep awareness of, understanding, and commitment to child protection and safeguarding.
- Experience supporting young people in a behavioural, pastoral, or mentoring capacity.
- Insight into the social, emotional, and behavioural challenges faced by secondary school students.
