Located in the heart of Mayfair, Sexy Fish is an avant-garde dining destination celebrated for its opulent decor, innovative cuisine, and electric atmosphere. As a pioneer in the culinary scene, Sexy Fish offers a unique blend of art, fashion, and culinary excellence. Our food takes its inspiration from Asian cuisine, with a focus on Japan – sushi, sashimi, tempura, and robata. The bar is known for offering the world's largest Japanese Whisky Collection and prides itself on unique service standards and cocktail knowledge. With creativity and flair at the front of every cocktail & drink created, the team won the Best International Restaurant Bar at TOTC 2022.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Head Sommelier to join our team. As an Assistant Head Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in the success of our wine department, providing expert guidance to guests and team, and contributing to the overall excellence of our dining experience as well as assisting the Head Sommelier with the curation of the wine list. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Head Sommelier to curate and manage the wine list, ensuring a diverse and exceptional selection.
- Assist in training and developing the sommelier team to maintain high service standards.
- Provide expert recommendations to guests, suggesting wine pairings that enhance their dining experience.
- Oversee wine inventory, order supplies, and manage storage conditions.
- Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for staff and guests.
- Collaborate with the kitchen and service teams to enhance overall guest satisfaction.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new releases, and emerging winemakers.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Assistant Head or Senior sommelier in a high-end restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Strong knowledge of wines, regions, and varietals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Impeccable grooming and presentation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Certification from a recognized wine education program is advantageous.
