Role Overview

We put wellbeing first by giving our teams more time to recharge.

Position: Assistant Headteacher Location: Tile House School, Buckinghamshire, MK18 5AN Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata) Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday Contract: Permanent | Term time only Start: April 2027

About the Role

This is an incredible opportunity to join the founding leadership team at Tile House School, a brand-new specialist school opening in Buckinghamshire. As Assistant Headteacher, you will collaborate with the Headteacher to establish an outstanding provision for children and young people with Autism and additional needs. Combining strategic leadership with 70% teaching commitment, this role offers the chance to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Headteacher in establishing the school’s vision, values and strategic direction.
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership through classroom pedagogy, balancing teaching commitments with broader excellence across the school.
  • Drive high-quality teaching, learning and curriculum development to ensure every pupil achieves their potential.
  • Champion inclusive practice, providing personalised, ambitious and engaging learning experiences for SEND pupils.
  • Develop and coach staff through performance management, professional learning, and leadership opportunities.
  • Embed operational systems, safeguarding protocols and efficient procedures to ensure a safe and functional school.
  • Collaborate with families, local authorities and multidisciplinary partners to deliver the best outcomes for pupils.
  • Drive whole-school improvement, fostering the school’s culture, standards and long-term success.

About You

We’re seeking an accomplished leader with:

✅ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification. ✅ PGCE/equivalent teaching qualification (NPQH desirable). ✅ Leadership experience (preferably in special needs or mainstream education). ✅ A passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for young people with Autism and additional needs. ✅ Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and commitment to supporting pupils, colleagues and families. ✅ Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships across the school community. ✅ Resilience, reflective practice and a drive for continuous improvement. ✅ A commitment to coaching, mentoring and collaborative leadership. ✅ A strong safeguarding ethos, with a dedication to promoting the welfare of every child.


About Tile House School

Tile House School is a brand-new specialist school under Acorn Education, launching April 2027. We will serve pupils with SEMH needs (upmu to 72 pupils), aged 5–16, offering personalised support to help them build confidence, resilience and positive futures.
