The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance
Your focus is to assist and support the Kitchen Manager in delivering our food and beverage strategy, ensuring every plate hits the pass with consistent quality. You will build a culture of cleanliness and food safety while coordinating the kitchen to create a professional, hygienic, and cost-effective working environment. From controlling portion sizes to supervising trainee chefs, this is a hands-on role where you drive standards and keep the service flowing smoothly.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating great experiences for our guests and each other. That is why we back our teams to take ownership, learn new skills, and grow their careers.
Previous experience is great, but your attitude and energy matter much more to us. If you are a grafter who thrives in a busy kitchen, loves working with people, and enjoys being part of a tight-knit brigade, we will give you all the support, training, and opportunities you need. Because it really does take a Village.
How the Village Thrives
We live our culture through four simple commitments:
- We Can & Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose. We drive quality, deliver consistent food, and smash our budgeted GP percentage and food revenue targets.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best, assist other chefs on their section when required, and establish clear lines of communication with the Front of House teams.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other. We create an engaged team through reward, recognition, and daily briefing sessions that foster a true passion for food.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
