Role Summary
We seek an Assistant Lecturer to support the Adult Nursing Department in delivering high-quality nursing education. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the core delivery of nursing programmes (BSc (Adult), RN Degree Apprentice, MSc, MSc)
- Delivering clinical skills teaching
- Assessing and marking learners
- Assisting with student recruitment and onboarding for nursing/apprentice admissions

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with BSc/Apprentice/MSc nursing teams and stakeholders to streamline admissions, onboarding, and compliance with BCU priorities.
- Design and deliver evidence-based clinical skills training using engaging, effective methods (both face-to-face and online).
- Foster critical inquiry and enthusiasm in learners through innovative teaching approaches.
- Provide empowering, constructive feedback to help students thrive into independent healthcare professionals.
- Offer pastoral, clinical practice and academic support, ensuring students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—achieve their potential.
- Act as personal academic tutor, supporting students with academic or personal difficulties and linking them to relevant university/specialist services.
- Work cohesively with colleagues to enhance the student learning experience.
Essential Requirements
✔ Current Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration in Adult Nursing ✔ Degree qualification in a clinically relevant field ✔ Experience delivering healthcare teaching/training ✔ Experience supporting nursing students/apprentices in practice
Desirable Requirements
✅ Postgraduate teaching qualification (e.g. PGCertHE, NMC Teacher Status, HEA Fellowship) ✅ Higher Education teaching experience ✅ Master’s degree or PhD in a nursing/related subject ✅ Experience with university admissions processes
