The Role

Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Aerospace

As an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Aerospace, you will support students in developing the knowledge, practical skills, and professional attributes required to work within the evolving aerospace engineering and technology sectors.

The aerospace industry is undergoing significant transformation through advancements in sustainable aviation, digital engineering, advanced systems integration, and emerging aircraft technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to teaching, student support, curriculum delivery, and course coordination across our undergraduate aerospace engineering and aerospace technology programmes.
  • Support the delivery of core engineering fundamentals, alongside applied and practice-based technical subjects.
  • Engage in computational, laboratory, simulation, and project-based activities.
  • Work closely with academic colleagues to deliver an engaging and inclusive student learning experience.
  • Ensure relevant aspects of professional practice, sustainability, industry engagement, and emerging technologies are embedded within modules and courses.

Our Successful Candidate

To be successful in this role, you meet the following criteria:

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience supporting or delivering teaching within:
    • Aerospace Engineering
    • Aerospace Technology
    • Engineering or closely related disciplines.
  • An appreciation of effective teaching, learning, and assessment in higher education or technical training environments.

Core Competencies –

Subject Specialisation / Technical Expertise: Demonstrate strength in one or more of the following areas:

  • Aircraft design, development, or build.
  • Aircraft systems design and integration.
  • Materials, structures, aerodynamics, or aerospace performance.
  • Digital engineering, simulation or UAV technologies.

  • Enthusiasm for current and emerging aerospace technologies.
  • Preparedness to support diverse student backgrounds in developing:
    • Technical competence.
