We’re looking for a Litigation Assistant Solicitor / Litigation CILEX Practitioner to join Anglian Water’s in-house legal team, supporting the delivery of high-quality legal services across our business. You’ll play a key role in managing civil litigation matters, with a particular focus on debt recovery, ensuring cases are handled effectively, compliantly and in line with regulatory requirements. Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you’ll contribute to delivering strong outcomes for the business while supporting our wider purpose of serving our communities and protecting the environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Manage a varied caseload of civil litigation matters, including pursued and defended claims
- Authorise and review case strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements
- Assess evidence, prioritise claims and determine appropriate routes to settlement or judgment
- Represent the organisation at court hearings where required
- Provide legal guidance to the business on debt recovery processes and policy
- Collaborate with operational teams to support effective debt recovery activity
- Ensure cases are progressed efficiently in line with court deadlines and procedures
- Support team development through knowledge sharing and supervision where required
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to deliver consistent and effective legal support

What we’re looking for
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Practitioner with experience in civil litigation (5+ Years)
- Strong knowledge of debt recovery and monetary claims
- Experience of county court proceedings and Civil Procedure Rules
- Ability to manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills, including confidence in handling difficult conversations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
- Confident using Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint
Desirable: Advocacy experience, supervision experience, and understanding of regulated environments. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
