Role: Assistant Management Accountant

We’re looking for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join our Finance team and support our Supply Chain & Online functions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong management accounting fundamentals with commercial insight, analysis, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager – Supply Chain, overseeing essential tasks across a £50m cost base spanning outsourced distribution centres in the UK and overseas, as well as distribution to stores and e-commerce customers.

  • Period-end reporting & financial control
    • Prepare and post period-end journals, ensuring accurate and timely recording of Supply Chain & Online costs.
    • Complete robust balance sheet reconciliations and promptly investigate/resolve reconciling items.

  • Financial performance analysis

    • Analyse variances against budget and prior year performance, producing clear commentary on financial performance.
    • Support the preparation of reporting packs and performance updates for management stakeholders.
  • Business partnering & analysis

    • Produce weekly reporting across Supply Chain costs to aid decision-making.
    • Accurately capture and code supplier costs and operational metrics to support analysis.
    • Provide ad hoc analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across the cost base.
    • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Finance and Supply Chain, supporting budgeting and forecasting.
  • Controls & continuous improvement

    • Liaise with auditors during the year-end process and fulfil audit deliverables.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance finance processes, reporting, and systems to strengthen controls.

Required Skills & Experience

We’d like to meet someone with:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a finance role within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Preferable experience in retail, ecommerce, or supply chain.
  • Studying towards an accountancy qualification (or keen to progress professionally).
  • Strong Excel & analytical skills, with an exceptional level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset, comfortable challenging processes while working collaboratively with stakeholders.
