Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Management Accounts Assistant to support the finance function within a manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an individual who has strong accounting fundamentals, enjoys working with detailed financial data, and has practical experience with stock and inventory accounting.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager, assisting with month-end reporting, management accounts preparation, stock reconciliations, cost analysis, and operational finance activities. This position requires a strong grounding in accounting principles rather than a purely commercial finance or business partnering background.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes.
- Perform stock and inventory reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Maintain accurate accounting entries relating to stock movements and inventory transactions.
- Assist with material costing analysis and Bill of Materials (BOM) reviews.
- Support balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings.
- Produce financial reports and analysis to support operational decision-making.
- Work closely with manufacturing and operational teams to ensure financial accuracy of stock, inventory, and production data.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure financial controls and processes are followed and continuously improved.

Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
- AAT qualified (minimum) and ideally studying towards CIMA or ACCA.
- Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidates with relevant manufacturing finance experience will also be considered.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production, engineering, or similar stock-intensive environment.
- Strong understanding of:
- Stock movement accounting
- Inventory control and reconciliations
- Material costings
- Bill of Materials (BOMs)
- Accounting entries and double-entry principles
- Strong basic to intermediate accounting skills with a willingness to be hands-on in day-to-day finance operations.
- Experience supporting management accounts production.
- Confident using Excel and finance systems.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

- Degree educated.
- AAT qualified and actively studying towards CIMA or ACCA.
- Experience partnering with operational stakeholders and non-finance teams.
- Exposure to management accounting within a manufacturing or industrial business.
