Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant
Location: Glossop (Hybrid, 2-3 days)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Reporting to: Head of Finance
About the role
Sowena Group is delighted to be exclusively partnering with a growing manufacturing business based in Glossop to recruit for a new Assistant Management Accountant as they continue to strengthen their finance function.
This role reports directly into the Head of Finance and will play a key part in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and driving financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial records.
- Produce and analyse monthly financial reports, identifying trends and variances.
- Proactively manage customer accounts, reducing aged debt through effective credit control and relationship management.
- Support month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements.
- Monitor costs, margins, and departmental performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
- Assist with ad hoc financial projects as the business grows.

Essential Criteria

- AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent AAT qualification) and willing to studying towards CIMA/ACCA
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.
- Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial colleagues.
- A self-starter and forward-thinking individual
