Assistant Management Accountant
Codsall (On-site 5 days per week)
6 Month Fixed Term Contract
£35,000 - £40,000
Seymour John is exclusively supporting a profitable, high growth business who seek to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant on an initial 6 month contract with a view of potential permanent role upon completion of the contract. In this role you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of a high-performing finance function that provides accurate financial reporting, commercial insight and effective business partnering across the group.
Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with the Management Accountant, this role will take ownership and support with core management accounting activities, budgeting and forecasting, deliver insightful financial analysis and contribute to the ongoing development of the finance function.
As the company continues its digital transformation, the Assistant Management Accountant will also play an active role in finance systems implementation, reporting automation and continuous improvement initiatives, helping reduce reliance on manual processes and supporting the evolution of finance into a strategic business partner across the organisation.

Financial Reporting
- Support the production of the group monthly management accounts.
- Prepare month-end journals including accruals, prepayments and adjustments.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring all accounts are accurate and fully supported.
- Maintain the fixed asset register.
- Produce monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Assist with cash flow reporting.
- Ensure financial reporting deadlines are consistently achieved.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support the preparation of annual budgets.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly forecasting exercises.
- Analyse financial trends and identify emerging risks or opportunities.
- Support long-term financial planning activities.
- Work with budget holders to understand and challenge assumptions.
Commercial Business Partnering
- Build effective relationships with Operational, Commercial and Corporate teams.
- Support managers in understanding the financial performance of their departments.
- Produce commercial reporting that helps drive informed decision making.
- Analyse margins, charge rates, payroll costs and profitability.
- Support pricing reviews and commercial modelling.
- Assist with financial modelling for new business opportunities and investment proposals.
- Translate financial data into meaningful business insight.

Finance Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Support the implementation of new finance and payroll systems.
- Assist in the migration from manual Excel reporting to automated reporting solutions.
- Work alongside the Systems Team to improve data quality and reporting capability.
- Support the development of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI reporting.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual finance processes.
- Document finance processes and recommend improvements.
- Participate in finance transformation projects.
To be considered for this role it is essential that you are available to start Mid-August at the latest and have previous experience in a similar role with management accounting exposure and strong Excel / Analytical skills.
The role is based on-site in Codsall 5 days a week and offers 25 days holiday plus stats, pro rata and the standard working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
