Job Description
At Great Bear, we're looking for an ambitious and detail-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting career within a fast-paced and growing logistics business.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the financial performance of the operation by delivering accurate and timely management information to the General Manager, Operational teams, Finance colleagues, and senior leadership. You'll be responsible for producing insightful financial reporting and analysis, helping drive informed business decisions across multiple customer contracts and sites.
What You'll Be Doing
- Producing weekly costings and financial reports for multiple customer contracts and sites.
- Preparing monthly management accounts, including journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Supporting customer invoicing, credit control, supplier payments, and cash flow forecasting.
- Assisting with monthly review packs, budgets, and quarterly forecasts.
- Producing internal reports and providing finance support on ad hoc projects and business initiatives.
- Supporting the wider finance team with administrative and process improvement activities.

Qualifications
- Part qualified Accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Proven attention to detail and analytical approach.
- Strong Excel skills and comfortable using MSWord and PowerBI.
- Questioning and enquiring approach with a real desire to seek out new methods that will allow more efficient provision of accurate financial data.
- Comfortable working individually and as part of a team, sharing knowledge and improvement ideas for the benefit of the Company and its staff.
- Hard working and flexible, with a strong commitment to meeting deadlines
- Keen to get involved and a team player.
- Good communicator at all levels in the business
- Have the ability to take on further responsibility and progress into a Management Accountant role.
- Previous experience in a Finance role, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and income matching
- Experience of working in a similar industry is an advantage
