Brief Description

Assistant Management Accountant – Reading

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Management Accountant to support our finance team in delivering accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and business analysis. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills who is eager to develop their accounting career in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm

Key Responsibilities

Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting Review, approve, and process employee expense claims in line with company policies Perform bank, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments accurately within reporting deadlines Prepare and process payments, including BACS transfers, cheques, and other payment methods Assist with VAT returns and support compliance with financial regulations and internal controls Maintain accurate financial records and ensure documentation is properly filed and easily accessible Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to the finance team Assist with ad hoc finance projects, reporting, and process improvement initiatives as required

Requirements

What will you bring to ESP?

Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence working with financial data Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently using initiative, as well as collaboratively within a team A proactive and adaptable approach with a willingness to learn and develop A professional and reliable attitude with strong integrity and confidentiality standards

Qualifications & Experience

Accounting qualification (or actively studying towards one) such as ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent preferred Previous experience within a finance or accounting role is desirable Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes Experience using accounting systems/software, ideally Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2017 Confident working with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Experience supporting month-end processes and financial reporting would be advantageous
