Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant - Maternity Cover
Location: UK Salary: £30,987 pa Contract: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), 15-month Fixed Term – Maternity Cover, Hybrid Reports to: Management Accountant

About CAMFED
CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) empowers girls and young women in rural Africa to complete school, access economic opportunities, and lead change as role models, activists, and philanthropists. Their work supports vulnerable girls transitioning from primary to secondary education, into vocational training, and onwards to leadership.
Principle Accountability
The Assistant Management Accountant will provide financial and analytical support to the UK Finance team during a fixed-term maternity cover. Responsibilities include:
- Reconciliation: Income received and preparation of journal entries
- Financial Reporting: Monthly reconciliations, reports for UK departments, and quarterly Gift Aid/Gift in Kind claims
- Audit Support: Assistance during the annual external audit
- General Administration: Preparation of authorisations, expense reviews, and intercompany payments

Key Responsibilities
Expenditure Management
- Administrate the purchase ledger, documenting and approving vendor payments.
- Post weekly payment runs and generate bank payment files with remittance advices.
- Process petty cash transactions and staff expense claims.
- Authorise staff travel expenditure and credit card transactions in the financial system.
Accruals & Prepayments
- Prepare schedules for cash flows and interim year-end adjustments.
Income Administration
- Review bank statements against financial records.
- Compile income reports for donations, liaising with fundraising teams to ensure accurate system entry.
- Reconcile donation income with payment received and forecast future collections.
Financial Reporting
- Generate monthly management reports for UK departments.
- Reconcile monthly balance sheets.
- Support annual external audit.
- Input UK office timesheets.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
- Financial qualification: Degree in accounting or related field (or working towards a professional accountancy qualification).
- Technical skills:
- Strong numeracy/financial awareness and excellent Excel proficiency.
- Full Microsoft Office competency.
- Soft skills:
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Fast learner with meticulous attention to detail.
- Deadline-driven and organised.
- Clear oral/written communication in a dynamic team.
