About the Role: Assistant Manager

Role Overview

As Assistant Manager at JD Sports, you’ll play a critical leadership role in driving store performance, supporting the Store Manager, and cultivating a high-performing team. This isn’t just about hitting targets—it’s about elevating customer experience, fostering talent, and upholding the premium JD standard. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Drive

  • Support the Store Manager in daily operations to meet sales targets and KPIs
  • Lead and mentor colleagues on the shop floor, allocating tasks and ensuring JD standards are met
  • Provide real-time coaching, reinforcing expectations for customer service and teamwork

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain the highest presentation and operational standards, including:
    • Accurate pricing, tidy displays, and customer compliance
    • Cash handling, till management, and delivery/Stock audits
    • Repositions staffing, spontaneity management, and store opening/closing procedures

Cultural & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a people-first mentality aligned with JD’s strategy
  • Partner with the Store Manager to identify growth opportunities
  • Represent the JD brand with authenticity, embodying our values

Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Proven retail management or supervisory experience (e.g., Assistant Store Manager, Supervisor)
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of guiding, motivating, and developing teams
  • Confidence in interpreting sales data and KPIs to make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication and customer service – ensuring staff and guests have a premium experience
